19th C Burmese Lacquered Bamboo Manuscript Tube w/ Inscription, Original Lid, 14” Sa Dauk

Antique Burmese (Myanmar) lacquered bamboo manuscript tube, dating to the late 19th to early 20th century. This traditional Southeast Asian document case was used for storing palm-leaf Buddhist manuscripts or important papers in monasteries and private libraries. Features an original Burmese lacquer inscription identifying the manuscript originally stored in the tube.

Hand-lacquered in rich red, black, and gold tones with floral and foliate designs and original Burmese script inscription. The tube retains its original fitted lid, which fits snugly. Interior shows natural age-related patina and lacquer wear consistent with authentic use.

This is not a modern reproduction — it is a genuine antique ethnographic object.

Condition: Antique condition with surface wear, minor lacquer loss, and natural age-related imperfections. Slight lean/wobble when standing due to age. No cracks through the body.
